#OperationNewWave is here! Episode 3 of this 5-Day Special Release has the semi-final matches of the New Wave Tournament, where the remaining 4 Artists fight to see who will be at the forefront of the New Wave. Match 1 of the second round has Scientific’s Tom O’Malley facing off with Old School’s Tough Tim Hughes. O’Malley survived the Speed of 2Hot Steve Scott, while Hughes utilized interference from his cohort WildMan Kongo to beat the Violence of Ricky Richards. Are the odds stacked against O’Malley? Or is Tough Tim destined to be the Old Front of the New Wave? The other second round match is “the Magnificent” Giovanni Marranca, the master of Striking, facing Sizzling Stan Styles, who is Entertainment personified. Marranca showed that he will do ANYTHING TO WIN, as he did overcome Darius Carter and Hybrid, while Stylez pulled off the biggest upset of the first round, stunning Powerhouse’s Vince Steele. Can the “Sexx T-Rexx” continue his run to the finals of the New Wave Tournament, or will Stan see another example of “Low Blow Joe” en route to a defeat? Project: Diverge intends to Evolve, Change, and Metamorphisize the way pro wrestling is viewed. We will see you for Part 4 tomorrow, 12.24.18 at 6PM, courtesy of ProjectDiverge.com. #DIVERGE

#OperationNewWave is here! Match 1 has Tom O’Malley, representing Scientific wrestling, facing off with 2Hot Steve Scott, utilizing his need for Speed. Both men have a history with one another, as they were trained by current Ring of Honor World Champion Jay Lethal at the ACE Wrestling Academy in Union City, NJ. However, both men are different in their own ways. Who will come out on top in this unique contest? Match 2 is a barnburner, as “Tough” Tim Hughes, the cool of Old School, goes against Ricky Richards, a man all about Violence. Hughes has been under the learning tree of “Brutal” Bob Evans, a cagey veteran of the game of pro wrestling, while the silent but violent Richards learned his fighting from attending and watching New York Islander games and brawls. We are less than two days to debuting something a year in the making. When I started on this project, it came completely out of frustration for how I saw the wrestling business going. For myself inside the industry, it was an answer to how I saw things creatively. For myself as a fan, it was an answer to what I would want to watch. Most of all, for myself as a person, it was an answer to every naysayer that said I was too nice and passive and would never succeed at doing this, even one simple show. When everything started to culminate and settle in post-Operation New Wave, I went into a deep depression. Real deep. So many different things, personally and professionally, that nearly caused me to never release the footage. It was really bad. I truly was in the darkest place I’ve ever been. Now that we are mere less than two days away from the start of the 5-Day Special Release of Operation New Wave, I’m excited. Things are better. Anticipation is building. My mind is the clearest its ever been. It’s how I see pro wrestling. And yet, when the release comes, there’s going to be one question I’ll ask myself. “What did I just do?” Nah, just playing. “What’s next?” On December 26th, we will see. Written last week on HardwayHQ.com, here is the official schedule for the Project: Diverge Operation New Wave 5 Day Special Release. 12/21/18 - 6PM: First Round Matches - Tom O’Malley (Scientific) vs 2Hot Steve Scott (Speed); Tough Tim Hughes (Old School) vs Ricky Richards (Violence) 12/22/18 - 6PM: First Round Matches - Sizzling Stan Stylez (Entertainment) vs Vince Steele (Powerhouse); “The Magnificent” Giovanni Marranca (Striking) vs Mr. Darius Carter (Hybrid) 12/23/18 - 6PM: Semi-Final Matches 12/24/18 - 6PM: MC Monty Max Presents The Styles Clash - Prince Akkanatan (Entertainment) vs Mike Del (Hybrid) vs Gabby Ortiz (Speed) vs WildMan Kongo (Old School) 12/25/18 - 6PM: The Operation New Wave Tournament Finals I hope to see you to the end of this. This is my vision. This is my heart. This is my answer to everyone. It’s been a long time between updates. I think it’s time to talk.
Over the past week, little bits and pieces have snuck its way online, screengrabs and little glimpses from Operation New Wave on April 21, 2018. Footage, up until this point, has not been released to the public for reasons not yet explained...which it will soon, trust me. It started with a Facebook post from 2Hot Steve Scott.
Then, mere days later, a GIF file from Sizzling Stan Stylez on Twitter.
With little pieces on the web, we, on Twitter, allowed ourselves to give a little bit of insight...thanks to a little help from our Hypeman, MC Monty Max!
Project: Diverge’s Operation New Wave IS FINALLY GOING TO BE RELEASED!
We will have a date in the coming week or so. Needless to say, there will be a reason why. Multiple reasons why. Perhaps...a PURGE of sorts. Regardless, stay tuned to ProjectDiverge.com and our social media accounts going forward. We are very sorry for the lengthy delay. You will NOT be disappointed. #DIVERGE Here at Project: Diverge, we wanted to give an update regarding the latest of things post-Operation New Wave. We are hard at work currently editing footage for a future release of Operation New Wave from 4.21.18. There are different formats that are being worked on as it comes to the release of the event on different realms. Once the direction is set, Executive Producer Brian Belzer and Jon Harder will announce to the world what will be next. Regardless of timetable, Project: Diverge wants to make sure this event is as perfect for the viewers at home as it was for the 100+ on 4.21.18 at the Old Bridge Elks in Old Bridge, NJ. Speaking of Jon Harder, he exclusively wrote some comments inside his Professional 3 Blog on HardwayHQ.com, particularly about Project: Diverge. “Running the Old Bridge Elks in Old Bridge, NJ and packing the hall with over 100 people, combined with the absolute best talent and crew around me MADE Operation New Wave. There is no amount I could ever repay anyone involved with Project: Diverge on 4.21.18. This was a complete success.
There are no amount of stories that can come from the lead-up to this event. However, once Tom O’Malley and Giovanni Marranca made it halfway into their epic tournament final match, I knew a dream was completed. I finally had a figurative big bag of rocks lifted off my back as it came to living the dream. I also knew that I was SPENT. Emotionally, mentally, and physically, I had used the last of my creative energy. Everything I had ever wanted led to that moment. The biggest “WHAT IF?” I ever had in my life was just completed. Project: Diverge was just THAT: a Project. I had a vision and I saw it through.” Needless to say, where does that leave Project: Diverge going forward? Read the full blog HERE. Stay tuned to all Diverge social media accounts as we go forward regarding Operation New Wave release dates. #DIVERGE
This past Saturday night, Tom O'Malley won the Operation New Wave Tournament and was awarded the New Wave Cup. Check out some exclusive photos here from our Facebook page.
#DIVERGE PROJECT: DIVERGE Operation New Wave results
4.21.18 Old Bridge Elks Old Bridge, NJ The first covert Operation for Project: Diverge took place on April 21, 2018 in front of a packed house at the Old Bridge Elks in Old Bridge, NJ. The Operation New Wave Tournament was on the menu, and it did not disappoint! FIRST ROUND Tom O'Malley defeated 2Hot Steve Scott Speed against Scientific Wrestling opened the New Wave Tournament. This contest was an absolute barnburner. "The Selfie Superstar" took O’Malley to the limit; however, with mere seconds left in the matchup, due to 10 minute time limits in the first round, the Scientific style overcame the Speed. O’Malley locked in a Stepover Toehold into a Regal Stretch - STR for short - and tapped out 2Hot Steve Scott at 9:55. Both men fist-pounded in a show of respect after this battle. “Tough” Tim Hughes pinned Ricky Richards Old School and Violence really took it at one another. At one point, Hughes actually put on Richards’ vintage Islander jersey and attempted to take down the Long Island native; in turn, Richards pulled it over his head and started pummeling him. Towards the end of the encounter, “Tough” Tim feigned an injury. As the referee went to check on Hughes, WildMan Kongo, fellow representative in Old School, jumped on the apron and delivered a blow to the back of Richards’ head. Hughes “miraculously” recovered and scored a three count over Richards. As the dastardly duo celebrated, the hockey goon Richards stormed out the door of the building. Sizzling Stan Stylez beat Vince Steele Throughout this battle between Entertainment and Powerhouse, Stylez’ mind games completely threw off the “Jurassic Juggernaut” from the start. Although Steele gave the Sizzling One some serious blows, it took Stan two Stunners and one very unique Whipped Cream Stunner to take the big man off his feet. One Facial later, and Stan pulled off the biggest upset of the first round. MMM THAT’S RIGHT! “The Magnificent” Giovanni Marranca pinned Darius Carter The final first round match between Striking and Hybrid really lit up the crowd. “The Magnificent” and “Wrestling’s Richest Prize” went toe-to-toe and hold-for-hold. However, during a striking exchange, the referee Dave Castaldo was accidentally struck with a blow. When Marranca became vulnerable, Carter went out to the ringside area and grabbed a chair from ringside from an intimidated fan. Once re-entering the ring, Carter was looking to eviscerate Marranca, when suddenly...he came to his senses. Showing a rare case of remorse, he tossed the chair to the floor. As soon as he turned around, “the Magnificent” delivered a vicious LOW BLOW, taking Carter down. One Roaring Elbow later, Marranca, to a stunned crowd, pinned Mr. Carter and advanced to the second round of the Operation New Wave Tournament. SECOND ROUND Tom O’Malley defeated “Tough” Tim Hughes Before the match, Tough Tim tried to bring his cohort WildMan Kongo to the ring with him. However, Jon Harder, the Diverge Founder, ran immediately over to the entrance way and ejected Kongo from ringside. As Hughes protested, Kongo whispered something into his ear. Hughes nodded and the muscle of Old School shuffled backstage. Throughout the battle, O’Malley suffered an injury to his left shoulder, which Hughes capitalized on. As much as Tough Tim tried, O’Malley fought back. Near the end, Hughes went for a Tornado DDT, but as O’Malley pushed off, Hughes went to the canvas, seemingly suffering a knee injury. As referee Jamal Jackson eyed Tough Tim, KONGO ran from backstage and tried to attack O’Malley from behind. However, Tom sensed it and leveled the WildMan to the floor. Hughes got up, one Enzuguri later, O’Malley locked on the STR and tapped out Tough Tim. Scientific wrestling overcame Old School and straight into the finals. However, O’Malley’s shoulder was worse for wear. “The Magnificent” Giovanni Marranca pinned Sizzling Stan Stylez Marranca got a jump at the bell on the Sizzling One. As much Striking as Gio put on the table, Entertainment kept shining through. Stylez went for the Whipped Cream Stunner, but “the Magnificent” reversed into a waistlock. After a Stylez reversal, Marranca spit the whipped cream in his mouth into the face accidentally of referee Tyler Southwick. With the referee distracted momentarily, Marranca mule-kicked Stylez right in the groin! One Roaring Elbow later, and “the Magnificent” went into the finals of the Operation New Wave Tournament. However things got interesting here. Vince Steele, upset over his loss to Stan earlier in the tournament, came in through the back door and not only leveled Stylez with a running splash, but also CHOKESLAMMED referee Southwick! Security and the remaining referees ran out to ringside to try and calm down Steele, but he was “hijacking the show”. Who was going to make him leave the ring? ENTER Kyle the Beast. Unannounced, KTB crashed the party at the Old Bridge Elks and proceeded to confront “the Jurassic Juggernaut”. Eye-to-eye and nose-to-nose, both men were not backing down. Then, a brawl commenced. When Steele gained the upper hand, he decided to go for broke. The 6’4, 430 lbs man from the Boogie Down Bronx went for a Vader Bomb. However, KTB put his feet up! Then, with all his strength, the Beast showcased that he was a BEAST, putting the big man on his shoulders and delivering a POWERFUL Samoan Drop! Steele rolled to the outside and was swarmed by security, forcing the Powerhouse backstage. KTB saved the Operation New Wave Tournament. MC MONTY MAX PRESENTS THE STYLES CLASH: Mike Del defeated WildMan Kongo, Prince Akkanatan, and Gabby Ortiz The Four-Way Dance between four different styles took place and definitely made an impact. Early on in the match, Kongo absolutely dominated his 3 victims. However, just as he delivered a vicious blow to Ortiz in the corner, Ricky Richards snuck back in from the bar and clubbed Kongo in the head with his hockey glove. Giving Kongo a receipt, both Akkanatan and Del delivered a double spinebuster to Kongo, pinning and eliminating him from the match. All 3 remaining combatants gave it their all, fighting tooth and nail. However, Akkanatan got caught into a small package by Gabby and he got pinned for the 3 count. The second Ortiz got to her feet, Del quickly came in and schoolboyed her up. Putting his feet on the ropes, Del got the 3 seconds he needed and won the match. Mike Del won the Styles Clash! While Gabby Ortiz was ranting inside the ring, Del was celebrating like he won the Super Bowl. However, Darius Carter, still smarting over his loss earlier, stood at the base of the entranceway, seemingly bothered by the fact the Del had to cheat to win, while he was cheated himself. It was a very interesting dichotomy to say the very least. FINAL ROUND Tom O’Malley defeated “the Magnificent” Giovanni Marranca O’Malley walked into this finals with an immediate disadvantage, suffering from a shoulder injury suffered in his second round encounter with “Tough” Tim. Both men went back and forth into battle. At one point, Marranca leveled O’Malley with a Roaring Elbow, sending him to the floor. “The Magnificent” wanted the countout win, but O’Malley got in before the count of 10. After another back and forth, O’Malley delivered an Enzuguiri, dropped Marranca with a torture rack face drop, and then locked on the STR, all with an injured left shoulder! Pulling him tight and deep, “the Magnificent” TAPPED OUT to the STR. Tom O’Malley won the Operation New Wave Tournament and, in turn, won the inaugural New Wave Cup! Stay tuned to Project: Diverge all throughout social media for any further updates on when we will release Operation New Wave footage to the masses. #DIVERGE http://projectdiverge.com http://facebook.com/projectdiverge http://twitter.com/projectdiverge |
